The parties involved in the strike action within Transnet had a last meeting under the auspices of the CCMA and Senior Commissioner Afzul E Soobedaar and the CCMA announced that they could at least settle the dispute with the majority party.
SATAWU ,representing 39% workers reported that 99% of their membership rejected the offer.
UTATU/SARWHU Alliance, representing the majority (54%) of members in Transnet, has signed the wage agreement which will be implemented with immediate effect and backdated to 1 April 2010.
UTATU has called on all their members to report for duty as from midnight tonight.

PRASA WAGES 2010/2011: REF Wages Prasa 017 - 20/05/2010 |

The Parties being PRASA/UTATU and SATAWU met in terms of the Labour Relations Act LRA, clause 150 at the offices of the CCMA at Johannesburg for final acceptation of the wage draft agreement that was concluded the previous night.
Senior Commissioner Meshack Ravuku, was the commissioner who facilitated the process.
Attached herewith please find the signed wage agreement for your attention. Please view the documents on-line or contact Head Office on 011 728 0120 to obtain a copy.
To be noted that SATAWU did not sign the agreement but were given time by Management until Sunday 23 May 2010 to either accept or reject the offer.
We want to take this opportunity to thank all UTATU members for their support during these very difficult negotiations.
Please note that the strike ends at midnight or as soon as possible thereafter.
