LEAVE STRATEGY MANAGEMENT: LEAVE ROSTER 2010 Print E-mail

The following response was received from Transnet Freight Rail Management after we submitted to them the complaints from our members “that TFR is in non compliance of the Leave Agreement as  determined in the TFR variation agreement for 2009/2010 “:-

The mail from Harold Sargent is very clear. Employees are expected to take/granted compulsory leave due to them  so that we do not have employees working for long periods of time without leave. The leave allocation will be consulted with the employees, but will be taken in accordance with applicable agreements.

The “instruction” they circulated:-

Colleagues

Please refer to the attached letter issued on behalf of the General Manager (Human Capital), in respect of the taking of compulsory leave by employees.

In compiling leave rosters, periods of leave should be allocated to ensure that all personnel are at least granted the compulsory leave due to them on a consecutive basis as far as is practicable.

When leave rosters are compiled, Controlling Officers must be consulted where necessary and if vacation leave cannot be granted for the period requested, the employee concerned should be consulted as far as possible before another period of leave is decided upon.

To put matters on a sound footing it would be appreciated if you could ensure that the contents of this letter is brought to the attention of all employees under your control.

Harold Sargeant

Trust that this clarifies all the queries we are receiving
