Letter from Attorneys to Mr Pradeep Maharaj and Me Sue Albertyn SUE ALBERTYN PRADEEP MAHARAJ Dear Sirs, TRANSNET STRIKE 1. We represent The United and Allied Trade Union ("Utatu") ("our client"). 2. We have been furnished correspondence addressed to our client's members for our perusal and consideration. 3. We are instructed to write to you as follows and to record the following: 3.1 Our client has referred a dispute in relation impasse reached in relation to the failure to reach agreement on substantive terms and conditions of employment; 3.2 In consequence of the impasse aforesaid, strike action has been commenced with and is currently underway; 3.3 The letter furnished to our clients members requesting their signature to unconditionally agree to an 11% increase is with respect disingenuous with our clients stance on its mandate received from its members NOT to accept the 11% increase; 3.4 The aforegoing conduct conflicts with our client's right to proceed with industrial action and to negotiate more substantial substantive terms and conditions of employment. 4. We are thus instructed that you furnish our offices with an undertaking that this correspondence addressed to our client's members will be unconditionally withdrawn and that our client's members not be subjected to having to be subjected to same.
