Total Reward Solution Meeting: Transnet Freight Rail |
TO: ALL TFR EXCO MEMBERS AND TUR’S TRANSNET FREIGHT RAIL: TOTAL REWARD SOLUTION MEETING TO TRADE UNIONS Labour and Management negotiated yesterday (11 Oct’ 07) at the Transnet Bargaining Council on the new reward system for Train Drivers, Train Assistants, TCO’s, as agreed in the 2007/2008 wage agreement. The main issue from Labour is our concern for the loss of critical skills such as train drivers to SARCC/Metrorail, Australia, New Zeeland and in the very near future the Gautrain project. Why are train drivers leaving TFR for SARCC/Metrorail ? The main reason is the better reward system offered. Will the offer from TFR, as captured in attached documents retain train drivers for the company ? No Why not ? How can you expect one train driver to work 100 hours over time and earn the same gross pay as a train driver who worked 20 hours over time. |
